About

Munch 66 is both a digital tool and a physical arena for young artists. Its main purpose is to shorten the distance between galleries and artists by simplifying the application process and creating greater engagement around emerging artists in Oslo.

Based on interviews with young, Oslo-based artists, we found that the current system is not optimal. Artists either have to pay for exhibition space or pass through a narrow gatekeeping process where applications are often complex and time-consuming.

Munch 66 is designed as a low-threshold initiative aimed at addressing these challenges. Its ambition is to shift the art market from being “the gallery’s market” to becoming “the artist’s market.” This project was presented at Gamle Munch.
